How to Split, Edit and Convert PDF Files for Free (No Software)

You do not need Adobe Acrobat or any paid app to work with PDFs. Modern browsers can split, edit, sign, compress and convert PDF files entirely on your own device — which is faster and far more private than uploading documents to a random website's server.

1. Split a PDF or extract specific pages

Need to send only page 3 of a 40-page contract? Open the free PDF Splitter, choose your file, and type a page range like 1-3,7. You can extract those pages into one new PDF, or split every page into its own file downloaded as a ZIP. Nothing is uploaded — the splitting happens inside your browser.

2. Edit a PDF: add text, highlights and whiteout

The free PDF Editor keeps the original document intact and lets you add a layer of edits on top: type text anywhere (perfect for filling forms), draw with a pen, highlight important lines, and white-out details you don't want to share. You can also rotate sideways scans and delete unwanted pages. When you save, you get a real PDF — the original text stays sharp and selectable.

3. Sign a document

Draw your signature with a mouse, finger or stylus in the Signature Drawer and download it as a transparent PNG. Then place it on your document with the PDF Editor. This two-step combination replaces most paid e-signing services for everyday paperwork.

4. Convert PDF pages to images

Some portals and chat apps only accept images. The PDF to Images converter turns every page into a JPG or PNG at high, medium or low quality — high (~200 DPI) for printing, low for quick sharing. Download pages individually or grab everything as one ZIP.

5. Merge and compress before uploading

Government portals and job applications often have strict size limits. Combine files with the PDF Merger (you can reorder files before merging), then shrink the result with the PDF Compressor — the grayscale option makes scanned documents dramatically smaller.

Why browser-based PDF tools are safer

Most "free PDF" websites upload your file to their servers, where you have no idea how long it is stored. Every SantoshTec PDF tool processes files locally in your browser using JavaScript — your contracts, IDs and certificates never leave your device.
