This site is run by one person. Email reaches me directly, and I read everything — though I cannot always reply quickly.

Reporting a problem with a tool

Bug reports are genuinely welcome, and specific ones get fixed much faster. Because everything runs in your browser rather than on a server, I cannot see what went wrong on your machine — there are no server logs to check. What you tell me is all I have to work with.

Four things make a report actionable:

  • Which tool, and what you were trying to do.
  • What happened instead — the exact error message if there was one.
  • Your browser and device: Chrome on Windows, Safari on iPhone, and so on.
  • Roughly what the file was like: how many pages, how large, whether it was a scan or a digital document, whether it was password protected.

Please do not attach the file. The entire point of this site is that your documents stay on your device, and emailing me one would undo that. A description is almost always enough. If it genuinely is not, I will ask whether you can reproduce the problem with a document that does not matter.

Requesting a tool

The current list has grown almost entirely from requests, so this works. What helps most is describing the situation rather than the feature — "the portal I submit to only accepts twenty pages at a time" tells me more than "please add a splitter", because it tells me what a good version would need to do.

Things already on the list, in rough order: OCR for scanned documents, an image watermark option, and better handling of very large files on mobile devices. Asking for one moves it up.

Privacy questions

If you want to know what this site collects, the short answer is: no documents, ever, because they never leave your browser. The longer answer, covering analytics and advertising cookies, is in the privacy policy and the cookie policy.

If you have a question those pages do not answer, or you want to exercise a data protection right, email me and say so clearly in the subject line. I will respond within thirty days, and usually much sooner.

Copyright and legal notices

If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, email me with the specific URL, a description of the work you say it infringes, and your contact details. I will look at it promptly and remove anything that should not be there. There is no legal department to go through.

What I cannot help with

A few things fall outside what one person maintaining a free site can do, and it saves us both time to say so.

I cannot recover a document you have lost. Because nothing is uploaded, there is no copy of your file anywhere except on your own computer. If you compressed over your original, or closed the tab before downloading, I have no way to help. This is the direct trade-off of the privacy model, and it is worth knowing: keep your originals.

I cannot open a password-protected PDF for you. If a file requires a password to open, no tool can read it without that password, and I would not build one that tried.

I cannot give legal advice. Questions about whether a particular electronic signature is valid for a particular document in a particular country need a lawyer, not a developer. The guide on signing explains the distinctions, but it is background, not advice.
